Living with Parkinson's Disease can be challenging for both those diagnosed and their loved ones. In addition to medical treatments, lifestyle changes, especially in nutrition, play a crucial role in managing this condition.

Research shows that proper diet can significantly improve the quality of life for those with Parkinson's. In particular the evidence is mounting for the benefit of the Mediterranean Diet for better symptom control and potentially playing a role in slowing progression.

Dietitians are the state registered health professionals within national healthcare systems to provide medical nutrition therapy services. Unfortunately, we know that up to 90% of people with Parkinson's do not have access to a registered Dietitian.

Through surveys and focus groups we have listened and heard the nutrition needs of the Parkinsons' community. The first step is to provide access to evidence based nutrition and diet information. As one of the first questions people ask is what diet should I eat for my Parkinson's we have developed the MediPD nutrition programme.

In order to be able to provide accessible nutrition education to people with Parkinson's we are using digital avatars to deliver our evidence based nutrition content which has been developed by our team of Dietitians.
